The Karni Trio is an exceptional chamber music ensemble, founded by violinist Eugenia Karni of the Basel Symphony Orchestra, violist Gilad Karni of the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, and Belgian pianist Nina Ardashir. This trio seamlessly blends technical mastery with profound musical expression.

Das Trio Karni ist ein außergewöhnliches Kammermusik-Ensemble, gegründet von der Geigerin Eugenia Karni vom Basel  Sinfonieorchester, dem Bratschisten Gilad Karni vom Tonhalle Orchester Zürich und der belgischen Pianistin Nina Ardashir. Dieses Trio verbindet auf beeindruckende Weise technische Meisterschaft mit tiefgründigem musikalischen Ausdruck.

Ihre Auftritte sind nicht nur technisch beeindruckend, sondern auch musikalisch fesselnd. Die Synergie zwischen den Musikern und ihr Engagement, Emotionen durch Musik zu vermitteln, macht ihre Darbietungen unvergesslich.

Eugenia Karni, a Belgian violinist, launched her professional career after debuting with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra at a young age. Trained under renowned teachers such as Zakhar Bron and N. Morozova, Karni has received multiple awards and accolades, including a Gold Medal at the International Hindemith Violin Competition. She has held positions as concertmaster with prestigious orchestras such as the Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie and Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie, showcasing her passion for the symphonic repertoire. She’s currently principal 2nd violin of the Basel Symphony Orchestra. Karni's artistic activities extend to various musical interests, including performances at festivals and collaborations with her mother, pianist Nina Ardashir and husband-violist Gilad Karni.  As a versatile artist, Eugenia constantly seeks to expand her boundaries and experiment with new styles, performing as a soloist and chamber musician on international stages across Europe, Canada, Mexico, and Asia.

Violist Gilad Karni is acclaimed internationally for his tone and interpretation, earning numerous awards and accolades throughout his career. His extensive repertoire includes collaborations with orchestras, chamber ensembles, and as a soloist. Karni has showcased his talent at prestigious festivals and venues worldwide and has been featured on radio broadcasts in various countries. He has also left his mark on multiple international viola competitions, winning first prizes and other honors. Karni's extensive performance highlights range from premieres of arrangements and concertos to appearances with acclaimed musicians like Isaac Stern Yo Yo Ma and the Guarneri String Quartet. Beyond his performing career, Karni is also a dedicated pedagogue, and gives masterclasses at esteemed schools & festivals around the world.

Nina Ardashir

Nina Ardashir is a Belgian pianist with a diverse musical career that includes solo performances, chamber music, accompaniment, and teaching. She draws upon the traditions of various piano schools and has studied with renowned professors such as Dorensky, Mezlumov, and Bluhmental. Ardashir has performed as a soloist with orchestras in concertos by composers like Rachmaninov, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, and Saint-Saëns, and her recitals have taken her to concert halls across Europe. She is also involved in opera and symphony projects, collaborating with institutions like the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf. Chamber music is a central focus of Ardashir's career, and she frequently performs in ensembles, including a piano duo with her daughter, violinist Eugenia Karni.
